Black Limba is a beautifully charactered wood with dark streaks running erratically through it. It is hard to find and pricey, and we generally only use it in larger inlays where the grain can be seen well. Veneering it also makes the wood “stretch” farther. We can cover 3 or 4 times as much area with one board by slicing it into veneer. We never stain this material. Stain will immediately mute the striking colors in the wood. Consider this wood to be used only under a clear finish.
