Bubinga is usually found in two grades—straight to slightly varying grain patterns, and a highly figured grain. The highly figured patterns can be absolutely beautiful, looking more like a burl. We definitely veneer those pieces for inlay work. It generally has a deep maroon color that turns slightly brown with age, but retains some of its burgundy color many years later. When stained, its character is not muted and continues to be displayed nicely.
