Genuine Mahogany is somewhat expensive. The political instability of Central America has made harvesting this wood a financially risky business. Much now comes from South American countries like Brazil. It is the highest prized of the mahogany family due to its richness and deep color with age. We try to buy pattern grade material when available. These boards have been selected for their clarity and uniform grain, making them excellent for wood patterns that need to retain their perfect shape. When used for cabinetry and furniture, the stability of pattern grade material is unmatched. The grain is very uniform and creates a beautifully uniform look across a large project like a big bookcase of even a kitchen.
